Lovers
Lovers
The lovers dance away as music plays,
her red gown falls to shoulder bare,
ripe for breath and they push away.
The lovers slip away on stage,
hazel-blue eyes lock in embrace,
his fingers linger and they push away.
The lovers clinch for ways,
pulled together in cradled chest
where hearts raise and they push away.
The lovers live another gaze
in wary, impassioned play
that leaves them lost and they push away.
The lovers crisscross back again
side to side with rounded legs,
knitted steps and they push away.
The lovers surge and swing,
sweet of hope with kissing fear,
touch again and they push away.
The lovers dance once more,
sweat on napes of necks bowed down
with want again and they push away.
The lovers return in armed construct,
want for word but lost of tongue,
they keep a silence and they push away.
The lovers wait for a future day,
now cradled chest to chest,
—but first they must push away.
