'Brooklyn Stoop'

They spent summer nights on a stoop eating ice cream,

without riches but with richness of heart,

a richness of kissing familiar shoulders,

a richness of embrace saying what words cannot,

a richness of remembered intimate pleasures,

a richness of artists who've suffered their art,

a richness of words shared in empathy,

and a richness of breath sweet with hope.
