New Jersey is a state of stark differences where the web of natural elements is juxtaposed with industrial wasteland. The municipal density in the northeast with dirt, noise and congested roadways contrasts sharply with the rugged hills of the northwest, with lush horse country in the south central part of the state, and with the enormous stretches of pine forest in the southeast. The Appalachian Trail cuts through New Jersey to offer brief and breathtaking ridge settings with bodies of water and wildlife abounding near every windy gap. Or so I had heard ....
