The Appalachian Trail is clearly marked and well traveled. Ole Bard tells me one doesn't need a map to hike the trail from Georgia to Maine, but I'd venture to guess that everyone has gotten off the trail at one time or another. Worthington State Forest includes more than 10 separate trails that intersect the AT in different places, so inadvertent detours are inevitable.
