There's a little treasure located on the Edisto River, one of the longest black rivers in the world. After getting a ride from the local outfitters who were happy to drink beer and smoke with us, we were stuck in the middle of South Carolina lowcountry swampland. There is only one way back to civilization from here, unless one prefers to walk through the narrow brush to a farm road and try his luck at thumbing a ride 15 miles to where the car's parked. That's what a canoe is for!
